The group grew into a seven piece ensemble during the fall of 2002 with the addition of a trumpet (Paul Simon), a guitarrón (Netza Palomera), and an extra violin (Verónica Cedillos). The Mariachi Internacional del Tecnológico became very active within the MIT community performing for organizations such as LUChA (La Unión Chicana por Aztlán), MAES, SHPE, and Mes Latino which includes a yearly Spanish Mass during Hispanic Heritage Month.
